We are Beth and Pete Ugosoli of Harrison, Maine. FIAH is a Family-owned and family-operated business. Two years ago we started FIAH Fire Starters after getting frustrated using newspaper to build fires, which made our hands dirty and smelly, and we were always running out of kindling. We decided there had to be a better alternative, and that we would be the ones to create it. 

In our kitchen coming up with the right recipe was a trial and error event. Being passionate about the environment and the air we breathe allowed us to focus on ingredients that would meet our needs. We also wished to be American made, so we use soy wax which is made from soybeans and green certified wood, grown by American Farmers and Growers. All FIAH Fire Starters are handmade by local people.

In less than one minute you can have a roaring, crackling fire. No more paper, kindling or lighter fluids. No more dirty hands, smelly air, or paper and kindling storage issues.

We gave friends our fire starters as Christmas gifts. Before we knew it they wanted to buy from us. That’s when we knew we had a great product, and that’s when FIAH was born. With the help of our four children and friends, our dream of being a socially responsible, productive part of the community and has come to fruition.
